Museum is an important symbol of the profound academic and cultural accumulation of universities, and an important component of excellent universities. In the historical journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, as the “cradle of the national electronic industry” and the “leader of the electronic colleges and universities”, has played an important role in promoting the development of China's electronic industry. In order to record the important persons and events that promote the development of Electronic Science and technology, especially in China, and to carry forward the spirit of exploration, innovation, hardship and selfless dedication of generations of electronic scientists and technicians, the school has built the first comprehensive museum of Electronic Science and Technology in China. On   September 28, 2016, the UESTC 60th anniversary, it was officially put into use.

The Museum has nearly 14,000 items in its collection, including communication, radar, radio and television, electronic measurement instruments, electronic components, and computers. The existing basic exhibition hall covers an area of 1800 square meters, exhibiting a relatively complete electronic industry system. In addition, 300 square meters of special exhibition hall have been held, such as Qian Xuesen's Heritage Exhibition, Computer History Exhibition and China's Centennial Stock Exhibition, which have had a wide social influence. The museum is open for more than 310 days and receives more than 50,000 visitors every year. More than 70 primary and secondary schools in the province have established Library-School cooperation links and carried out popular science education activities.

Museums have gradually expanded their influence in professional fields. They are the vice-chairmen of the National Union of Industrial Museums, members of the International Museum Association, the Chinese Museum Association, the Association of Natural Science Museums of China and the National Union of Museums and Educators of Universities. At present, it has established links with 17 world top museums in 8 countries and world-class university museums, and carried out cooperation in scientific research, exhibition and technical support.

The Museum of Electronic Science and Technology is an educational, teaching and research institution that disseminates knowledge of Electronic Science and technology and inherits scientific civilization. It records the strong impact of electronic technology on the third wave of human beings in the way of exhibiting the spirit of seeing people and seeing things. The purpose is to carry forward the scientific spirit, enhance scientific literacy, give full play to the role of professional education, scientific research, and cultural heritage, and serve teachers and students, alumni, industry, and the society.

At present, the Electronic Science and Technology Museum is advancing synchronously in education, teaching, exhibition, scientific research, international cooperation, and other aspects, and is moving towards the goal of building the Electronic Science and Technology Museum in China and the world-class university museum.
